The HIV Retreat at Shadowcliff July 9 - 12, 2009

A Park Ranger stopped in to welcome the group shortly after we arrived and answered any questions and addressed any concerns. Two concerns were poison ivy and bears. "There's no poison oak or ivy in the area and bears will avoid the public," he assured the group. "Clap your hands loudly if out late at night."

As for the make-up of the group, there were about 40 people: six women, the rest men. Most Gay but several not. Age range from mid-thirties to early sixties. I was one of four Blacks. We were, for the most part, all strangers but the bonding began almost immediately. Everyone was friendly and there were no divas and no dramas.
